PSA: This is in NO way, shape, or form, promoting the drinking of wine! But now let’s go on.

As a Christan, for almost 25 years now, around this time is where I would see many churches, or places of worship, partake in something I think we all know more as “Communion ''. This is when you walk up to get, or they pass around, the little white bread with the little juice in a cup. However, we all know it’s a sacred moment to do such. This is where we find out that there’s one more. One more what? Well, let’s find out together shall we.

In Matthew 26 we find Jesus celebrating the last Passover meal. But then there's this strange line that Jesus says in verse 29 "Mark my words- I will not drink wine AGAIN until the day i drink it new with you in my Father's Kingdom". This line has always puzzled me. Then in Luke 22:17 it says "Jesus took a cup of wine" . Then verse 20 says "after dinner Jesus took ANOTHER cup of wine." Woah now Jesus, what's going on? Well we have to look back to the Passover story to understand. In Exodus 6:6-7 God tells Moses to tell the Israelites these four things "I will FREE you, I will RESCUE you, I will REDEEM you, and then I will TAKE YOU TO MYSELF". Tadah: Let me introduce you to the 4 Cups of Passover. Which is how Jesus celebrated Passover.

The First Cup: The Cup of Sanctification. This is the opening of the service\ceremony cup. It sets the time apart. This is the cup Jesus prayed over, drank, and passed around. For us Christians, we find ourselves here when Jesus prayed in John 17:19 " And I give myself as a holy sacrifice for them so they can be made holy by your truth."

The Second Cup: The Cup of Judgement (affliction): It shows that there is a price to be paid for salvation. Here, Jesus is taking the price on Himself for us. We see Jesus mention this cup in Matthew 22:20 "You don’t know what you are asking! Are you able to drink from the bitter cup of suffering?". Jesus again mentions this cup when He asks the Father if this cup can be taken away (Matt. 26).

The Third Cup: Cup of Redemption: This is the cup of the Lord's Supper. This is the second cup He blessed and passed. This is the cup He announced His new blood covenant with. In Jewish weddings, even today, this is the cup that bride and groom drink out of. For us Christians this is the cup that we laser focus on when we take communion; ahhh there's the little cup of juice.

The Fourth Cup: Cup of Consumation (Hallel - Messiah's Cup): This is the cup Jesus skips out on drinking until in the kingdom. This consumation has a lot to do with the wedding night (the honeymoon). Here Christ is the Husband and the Church is His bride. Christ will celebrate the consumation of His marriage to His bride at the wedding of the Lamb (Rev. 19:7-8).

In closing, Evrey Passover has music; even in Matthew it says "They sang a hymn and went out." One of those hyms says "Next Year in Jerusalem". You may say "Well, Gio, there's already a Jerusalem. Why do they keep saying it like if it's not there?" I would awsner this: If you want to see and be a part of Messiah drinking from that last cup, it's going to be in the NEW Jerusalem (Rev. 21). Oh and by the way; In order for Jesus to drink from that last cup. It means that He has to be 100% fully ALIVE! and He is! So get ready the Messiah is coming again! And we will see Him finish the 4th cup! His cup! Hallelujiah! There's one more; so get ready, get ready, get ready!
