Obscurity is one of the biggest and most hardest places for one to be; especially, if in the process of becoming a leader. Some people say that there are moments, in your life, that either break or make you. On the other hand, these are actually there to both break you, mold you, and make you; all at the same time. But before we go on, let’s see what obscurity means. The Cambridge dictionary defines it as “the state of not being known to many people” Let’s take a closer look at a famous Biblical figure to see this.
Let's take a look at Moses. But beofre-hand, lets take a quick couple of seconds and recap oh who he is. Moses, born to an Israelite woman Living under a cruel Egyptian enslavement, was spared from being killed and lived In the Paharoph’s palace for about 40 years. He escapes after killing an Egyptian soldier And hides in the desert for another 40 years. This is where we are.
Exodus 3vs. 1-2 says "One day Moses was tending the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro,[a]the priest of Midian. He led the flock far into the wilderness and came to Sinai, the mountain of God. There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a blazing fire from the middle of a bush. Moses stared in amazement. Though the bush was engulfed in flames, it didn’t burn up".Now let’s remember that we are talking about a human being here. As humans, when we Get stuck in the mundane for a while, we start to wonder where God is. But one thing we have to do, while in those seasons, is be open to what God is teaching us.
Earlier it was mentioned that these times break, mold, and make you. It’s because it is during these times where you get to see God show you who He is. The 3 lessons that God was teaching Moses, while in his obscurity, was 1-Who God is (God showed his identity to Moses by giving him His name). 2-Moses’s mission (God showed Moses his purpose). And 3-God showed that He could be trusted. Even in obscure moments.Sometimes God has to get you alone so He can Talk to you and show you more of who He is. But in those obscure seasons, keep your eyes and ears open to see what God is doing. If, during he was in obscurity, Moses could look back and see how God protected him for that moment, We could look back and see God’s fingerprints all over our lives. We read these stories now, but imagine you being in Moses’s shoes at the time. So if someone were to write about you in the future, will they be able to see God’s handprints in your obscure moments?
